Photos and videos of the forms and pouring my hammer finished sculpture. molding is made of polyurethane rubber. The casting material is plastic shark polyurethane. before pouring plastic into shape, got the paper silicone spray for easy removal.

Energy Efficient Insulation – Know How it Works?

In order to keep costs down and to keep the temperatures in your home from being too hot or too cold, it is important to have adequate energy efficient insulation. Four components contribute to your household’s energy efficiency and they are:

1) The amount of ventilation that is present, 2) the moisture control that is evident, 3) the insulation, and 4) air sealing. Make certain that yours is in proper balance to have the most comfortable and cost effective system.

The term ventilation refers to the movement of air through the home. While it is not a good idea to have cracks which allow cold air to seep in during the winter or heat in the summer, there needs to be adequate air movement in order to eliminate the accumulation of pollutants or stale air. This can be achieved by using exhaust fans, as are often present in bathrooms or kitchen areas. Vents and duct-work can also aid in proper ventilation.

Moisture control can be achieved by ventilation systems, as well. While some moisture is necessary in an environment, too much moisture, as in damp basements, attics or crawl spaces can lead to mold problems and other health challenges.

Insulation provides resistance to heat and energy loss in your home. The less heat you lose in the winter, the lower your bills will be. It will also keep the coolness provided by your summertime air conditioning system better contained.

Their energy efficiency is rated by R-values. The R-values refer to resistance to heat flow. This can be determined by the material that it’s made out of, the thickness, the number of layers and its density. A new home that is being constructed or an older home can be made more efficient by adding insulation.

There are different types of insulation that may be used including 1) blankets, which can be made of rock wool or fiberglass, and must be carefully installed for optimum efficiency, 2) spray, which is made from a polyurethane product and is injected into spaces where it expands to fit the area, 3) loose fill type, which can be made up of pellets or fiber and is also blown into the spaces, and 4) Rigid formed sheets which are often used in basements and walls.

Air sealing refers to the tightening up of the structure in terms of leaks and cracks. Inclement weather can slip into your home via ill fitting doors, windows, and cracks around every room’s light and electrical switch-plates. Sealing all with weather-stripping or silicone caulking can keep the outside weather out of doors where it belongs.

Keep your energy costs lower this year by upgrading with energy efficient insulation. You’ll be glad you did as the temperatures continue to drop with winter’s approach.

Siding Problems Need Attention or They Will Cost You a Lot More to Fix

Are you faced with problem siding such as Louisiana Pacific (LP siding), Weyerhauser, Masonite Siding,T-111 siding or Drivet material? These products have been associated with rot and leaking in the Seattle area. There are a couple of reasons why you will experience problems with these products in the Pacific Northwest.

1. They are not capable of handling all the wet weather we have in our area.

2. A lot of home owners and building owners do not do the proper maintenance.

3. The original design of the building and installation method used on the siding during construction.

This can include things like improper flashing and caulking of the siding, Improper grade and installation on home wrap.We have also seen problems with improper gutter installation and lack of gutters cleaning that leads to water pouring down the siding over windows.

Once the siding and caulking joints start to deteriorate the water will get behind the wall and saturate the paper or homes wrap. Once this occurs your home can experience rot underneath the siding. The sheathing ( Plywood on your homes framing stem ) and the actual framing starts to rot. This is the expensive part of any siding repair job.

Once water gets behind the wall it is only a matter of time before your repair cost go up exponentially. Siding is relatively easy to remove and replace. Once we have to tear off the siding the plywood remove doors, windows, flashing,plywood and pull framing apart the labor required really snowballs. Framing need to be supported and only very small sections can be fixed at a time.

The best way to do these types of repairs is to work on one section at a time. To avoid having to do major repair work complete the following annual check list

1. Inspect the edges of your siding ensure that there is no cupping or de-lamination on the edges of the siding.

2. Make sure your caulking joints are not cracked as even small cracks in the caulking will result in leaks.

3. Make sure your gutters are clean and that they do not force water down walls over windows.

4. Paint and redo caulking on your home often. Use polyurethane caulking you can buy it at Handy home center for about $6 a tube.

If you more than minor repairs or you have leaks please take care of the repairs quickly to save major cost later. Get 3 quotes from licensed and insured siding contractors. Consider doing on problem areas if you do not have the money in your budget.

Contractors will have moisture meters to help spot the water leak areas and the should explain how windows and doors are flashed.
